Ten Priorities. One Standard.
The Sheriff’s Office must protect citizens while building trust through transparency, professionalism, and service. Our community deserves leadership that listens, acts, and delivers results.
Focused Patrols
Deputies deployed where they are needed most, so every corner of a 130-square-mile county gets the coverage it deserves.
Swift Response
Professional, urgent response to emergencies and to the everyday concerns residents bring forward.
Proactive Prevention
Trust built through protective and educational community safety programs — not just reaction after the call.
Leadership You Can Count On
Each priority below is a commitment with a measurable outcome — not a slogan.
Safer Communities
We will focus on reducing violent crime and repeat offenders by putting deputies where they are needed most and strengthening partnerships with local law enforcement.
Honest & Transparent Policing
Accountability builds trust. We will publish clear, modern policing policies online along with weekly crime reports, provide online reporting for certain offenses and non-reportable accidents, and give every citizen a direct channel to share compliments, suggestions, or complaints.
Community First Policing
Strong relationships make safer communities. Deputies will be visible, engaged, and connected through community outreach programs and partnerships with local organizations.
Modern, Professional Law Enforcement
Our agency will reflect today’s best practices. We will update policies, prioritize training, and pursue full agency accreditation through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC).
Smart Response to Mental Health
Not every call requires a jail cell. We will expand crisis intervention training and partner with mental health professionals to respond safely and effectively.
Combating Drugs & Addiction
We will aggressively target drug traffickers while supporting prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts to break the cycle of addiction.
Supporting Our Deputies
A strong agency starts from within. We will invest in training, wellness, and retention so our deputies can perform at their best.
Responsible Use of Taxpayer Dollars
We will spend wisely, invest in what works, and remain fully transparent in how resources are used.
Bringing in New Resources
We will pursue grants and build partnerships with community stakeholders to fund programs, technology, and equipment — minimizing the burden on taxpayers.
Protecting Our Youth
We will strengthen school safety, support mentorship programs, and work proactively to prevent violence before it starts.
Policies Online. Crime Reports Weekly. A Voice for Every Citizen.
Transparency shouldn’t require a FOIA request. Under Kristen’s leadership, the Sheriff’s Office will publish its policies where anyone can read them, release crime reports weekly, and open an online channel for compliments, suggestions, and complaints that go straight to the Sheriff.
A Safer Future Starts Now
Together, we can build a Sheriff’s Office that protects, serves, and earns your trust.
